Conditions of Enrollment

The Shipley School believes deeply that a student’s success depends on a strong and continuing partnership between the School and his or her family. To that end, we maintain close communication with each family at all times through regular and special reports and meetings between and among the faculty and administration and students and their families.

The role of parents and guardians in this partnership requires their understanding and support of the School, its mission, its programs, and its faculty and staff. Families should read the student-parent handbook carefully with their children and discuss the philosophy and policies contained therein. Furthermore, the School expects attendance at Back-to-School Nights, conferences, and other activities, especially those that directly involve the child. Regular communication, a shared understanding of the School’s educational and behavioral expectations, and a mutual commitment to the mission of the School remain the keys to a successful school experience for each child.

Since it is assumed that both parties share the same positive approach to the child’s welfare, we believe that dialogue between the School and the parents/guardians will almost always resolve any differences that may occur. However, on rare occasions, circumstances may arise where agreement is impossible, and the best interests of the School and the child may make it necessary to discontinue the child’s enrollment in the School. The School reserves the right to act in what it believes to be the best interests of all parties.
