ACCESS CALENDAR FOR SHIPLEY MIDDLE SCHOOL EVENTS

 

MS NEWS:

         

8TH GRADE HEALTH/WELLNESS WORKSHOP - On May 20th the 7th and 8th grade students will participate in a workshop led by Andy Mozenter, an educational consultation, on bullying and various forms of harassment, issues increasingly prominent in the world these days.  If you have questions about this upcoming event, please contact Helen Hamlet.

8TH GRADE FAMILIES – REMINDER – Please remember to send in the class dues of $35, which helps defray the costs of the 8th students end-of-year events.  Checks should be made payable to The Shipley School and brought the MS front desk.  Thank you.

  

7TH GRADE WHITEWATER RAFTING TRIP – Buses leave Shipley at 7:45am on the morning of Friday, May 30, and return to Shipley at approximately 4:00pm.  Please return permission forms as soon as possible.

THURSDAY, MAY 29 - 8th Grade Trip to Hershey Park
This is our traditional 8th grade class trip –
7:45am - 8th Grade students arrive at Shipley Middle School
6:00pm - return to Shipley
$60 - cost of trip - check to "The Shipley School"
$10 - $20  - Spending money (lunch, games, souvenirs) 
Tuesday, May 20 - Permission form and check due 
Attire - Normal “dress down” attire
Incidentals - change of clothes/towel, sunscreen/rain gear if needed
Phone messages - check phone messages during the day or call the MS

FRIDAY, MAY 30 - Regular school day
Exams will be returned & yearbooks distributed
Latin plays
Last Day of School for 6th and 7th graders

MONDAY, JUNE 2 - MIDDLE SCHOOL CLOSING EXERCISES 

8th grade students attendance is required. 
Dress is formal.
Girls will wear dresses and proper shoes.
Boys will wear ties and blazer or suits – and proper dress shoes, NO SNEAKERS
Shipley ties are available in the school store.
Riely Theatre doors will not be open to admit guests until 9:30am
There is no reserved seating. 
The eighth grade is dismissed at the end of the ceremony to continue the celebration.

This dance is semi-formal and is strictly for students in Shipley’s 8th grade. 
All students are expected to take part in this Shipley tradition.

Go Spring Shopping and Support Your School -- Special Shopping Opportunity at Smith & Hawken!
Please join us for a special shopping day on Friday, May 23rd.  Our local Smith & Hawken store (located in Bryn Mawr at 1225 Montrose Avenue) has kindly agreed to offer Shipley families a 10% discount on all purchases made that evening between the hours of 3:00 - 8:00 p.m.  Simply mention that you are part of the Shipley community to receive this discount. In addition, 10% of all sales that evening will be donated to The Shipley School.

Kids 4 Kids Carnival Volunteers - Thank you for volunteering your time at the Ashley's Angels Kids 4 Kids kick off event on Saturday may 17th at our very own Shipley school! Please arrive prompltly at the Upper School field and check in at the Volunteer Registration desk.  If you are able, please car pool with fellow volunteers and park in the Lower School lot.  Looking forward to a fantastic event!  Thanks again for all of your help!

 

EVERYONE IN THE SHIPLEY COMMUNITY IS INVITED to attend the New Orleans Project Reflection Dessert on Monday, June 9th, from 7:00-8:30 in the Middle School Resource Room. The School’s support of this special outreach initiative has been spectacular, and the 16 seniors are anxious to share their stories and photos with the community. Please RSVP to Sandi Richards by June 4th (srichards@shipleyschool.org).
