The Shipley Shakespeare Program is devoted to making Shakespeare understandable and accessible for all. We are dedicated to bringing the words of the Bard to passionate life and during rehearsals we work closely with each student so that he/she can develop a strong connection to the text and a complex understanding of the characters. Thanks to the dedication, talent, and enthusiasm of our students, we have been able to mount successful productions of some of Shakespeare’s most difficult shows, including King Lear, Love’s Labors Lost, and Merchant of Venice. In the fall, the students perform a series of scenes in Riely Theatre, and in the spring, they perform a single play in our outdoor space.

Fall 2007
This year’s Fall Shakespeare Production, ‘Remnants of Wit,’ offers a selection of popular Shakespeare scenes, with the first half skewing towards boisterous comedy, and the second towards action and drama. The play features scenes from: A Midsummer Night’s Dream, As You Like It, Henry V, The Tempest, Much Ado About Nothing, Merchant of Venice, All’s Well That Ends Well, and Julius Caesar.
