Inserting Links to Websites

Links are easy to insert using the RedDot text editor but they must be checked regularly to make sure they are working – this is the responsibility of the page owner.

  1. Insert (via pasting or typing) text into page.
  2. Select the text you want to be a link … it can be the link address such as www.shipleyschool.org or words such as “Click here to go to Shipley’s Website”
  3. Click the Insert Link button
  4. Type the entire link address in the HREF field.  In the Target field type _blank to ensure that the link opens in a new window.
Be sure to type the entire address, i.e.
http://www.shipleyschool.org/.  Leaving out the http:// will not work.
The _blank makes the link open in a new window allowing visitors to keep your page open.

  5. Click OK
