Klingenstein Summer Institute

I loved Klingenstein. Never have I thought so hard about my philosophy of teaching and had the opportunity to be coached by such wonderful, professional, expert teachers. As private school teachers, we often ‘fall’ into the classroom and once there, we often don't have the time to reflect on what we do or what our classroom philosophy is. Klingenstein combines fabulous, young, energetic, private school teachers with professional experts from your field (science in my case) for an intensive 3-week opportunity to be challenged and to reflect on what it means to you to teach. As a young teacher, I relished the support I received at Klingenstein to pursue a career of teaching--we were reminded how important our job is. Our ideas were fostered and challenged, and best of all, we had the TIME to think and also to make lasting friendships with teachers and mentors. Thus, it was both a challenging and a reinforcing experience.  Simply the best!(Gillian Backus)
