Tales About Whales
They are the largest mammal in the world, measuring over 60 feet. They are peaceful, curious, and endangered. Kids love them, which was evident when Susan Dunswell, whale expert, brought her multi-media whale show to the Pre-kers this January. As the students traveled on a simulated whale watch, they were introduced to a variety of sea animals that they might encounter on a boat journey in the Hawaiian Pacific. They sang songs about whales and dolphins to an accompanying ukulele. Following the formal presentation students chose different activities to participate in including, making their own whale tail tracing, exploring in virtual undersea tunnels, and watching actual video of whales in the ocean.
