Alumni Weekend is a celebration of a time in one’s life when the future was a blank canvas and school life was a series of challenges to push the mind and body to its ultimate potential. On Friday, April 29, alumni from six decades entered the new lower school to reminisce, look at old photos, and enjoy time with their classmates. The weekend events—dinners, lunches, kickball games, a picnic, a cocktail party—all were designed to bring alumni together to renew connections with former classmates, meet favorite teachers, and introduce their family members to the school that was an important part of their life.
Shipley is proud of its history but equally proud to show off to the Alumni what it does best. While some traditions may change, the real tradition of Shipley is sending a senior off into the world with the ability to be a critical thinker, to be compassionate to others, and to make a contribution to the greater good. So it is at Convocation each year that the School recognizes the efforts and celebrates the accomplishments of its alumni. This year, the five people given awards were applauded for their service both to the School and the worldwide community. The love and commitment these individuals show is a testament to hard work and dedication.
