These are examples masks executed by the 7th grade art classes. The mask project is an open ended assignment that allows for great artistic liberty and a broad range of finished products. First the students coat their faces with Vaseline upon which they cover with multiple strips of plaster. After approximately 30-40 minutes they are able to pull off the hardened plaster. Then the students paint the masks with acrylic paint, after which they affix various materials like feathers, sequins, glitter, buttons, bits of paper, ribbon, and magazine pages.
