Diversity and service learning, the central components of Shipley’s Community Life program, seek to create and sustain a welcoming and safe school environment for all constituencies and to foster compassionate participation in life at Shipley and in the broader community. As our students prepare to be leaders in a diverse and difficult world, it is an ethical imperative that they learn to appreciate and understand differences in age, ethnicity, gender, race, religion, sexual orientation, and socioeconomic status. Through the academic disciplines, the arts, athletics, service learning opportunities, and diversity-related programs, our students learn the value of a strong and meaningful community life.
