Sports Highlights Shipley's spring sports teams spent spring break in Florida for spring training. The season will soon heat up with teams competing against league rivals for those coveted championship titles. Read Sports Highlights. Senior Clare Kuensell co-organized the 4th Annual Squash Pediatric Fundraiser. She has helped raise $115,000 for pediatric cancer research in the past four years. Read more. E-News Photos From top to bottom (see below): 1) US Musical - Students who performed in The Pirates of Penzance learned that "The show must indeed go on." Despite a soprano lead who lost her voice and a nasty fever running rampant through the cast, Shipley's performing artists showed their tenacity and talent in the face of adversity. Bravo! 2) Pre-K R Adventures in Space - Students in Linda Redding's Pre-K class explored the last frontier and used their imaginations to add their own spin to the universe. Students presented their planet creations to parents, followed by a simulation of a space walk. 3) All-School Concert - Students from all three divisions showed off their musical talent with numbers from Broadway. 4) Human Rights Day - Sixth graders made dream flags for their peers at the Brain Tree School in Uganda. "Be proud," said one student's flag. 5) Spanish Story Time - Heather Riley's Upper School Spanish students wrote books about the environment, then read them to Shipley's Kindergarteners.

April Events & Service Opportunities Community Pizza and Movie Night Friday, April 4 5:30 – 8:00 p.m. Upper School Dining Room All the pizza and popcorn you can eat. Plus, a screening of Whale Rider (rated PG-13), set in a small New Zealand coastal village. The film explores how one young Maori girl dares to confront the past, change the present, and determine the future. New Orleans Stakeholders Dessert **Rescheduled: Date TBA Find out how the Shipley community can continue its support of New Orleans with the senior Habitat for Humanity service trip in May. The School is hoping to make this a community-wide effort.

Blood Drive Wednesday, April 16 10:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m. Yarnall Gym It only takes 45 minutes to save a life at Shipley’s annual Blood Drive. Type O donors are particularly in need. Donors should be 16 and over and weigh at least 110 pounds. Get more information about giving blood at Shipley.

Ashley's Angels Kids 4 Kids Carnival Saturday, May 17 Shipley will host this carnival, featuring old fashioned games and races, appearances by professional athletes, a dunk tank, cotton candy, a live DJ, and more. The carnival will benefit Camp Erin, a bereavement camp for children, and Ashley's Angels initiatives at the Palliative Care Division of CHOP.
