The MLK Day of Service demonstrated Shipley's committment to what Dr. King called "creative altruism." Read more.

Sports Highlights
Shipley boys’ and girls’ swim teams competed in and won their first league meet of the season against Abington Friends.

Shipley girls’ volleyball team is on track for a winning season - and maybe a championship title - with only one loss halfway through the season. Read more.
Six Shipley divers - three as exhibition divers - competed in the Hill School's Diving Invitational. Senior Norah Maxwell placed 10th out of 25 and freshman Ellie Andersen placed 4th. On the boys’ side, junior Drew Gardner placed 3rd out of 17 divers. Shipley will end their season next week with the Inter-Ac Championships.  Drew Gardner will continue to Easterns this year as the first Shipley diver ever to compete there.

Harlem Wizards Basketball Show
Sunday, February 24, 2:00 p.m.
Yarnall Gym

Bring the family to an afternoon of trick-hoops, alley-oops, and a comic dose of your child’s favorite teachers on the basketball court as they take on the famous Harlem Wizards. Proceeds from this event will benefit Shipley’s Multi-Cultural Parents’ Association. Order your tickets before sales open to the general public on February 8.

Inter-School Art Show and Reception

Tuesday, February 26, 4:00 – 6:00 p.m.
Upper School

Artwork by Agnes Irwin, Haverford, Baldwin, Episcopal, Friends Central, and Shipley Upper School students will be on display in the Speer Gallery and the lobby of Riely Theatre. If you are on campus, please stop by to view the work of these talented students, which will be on display until March 17.

Winter Teas
February is the last month of Upper School teas and cookie volunteers are needed for February 6 and 27. Please let us know if you are able to provide baked goods – either homemade or from a bakery. Thank you, Andrea Tanenbaum and Donna Blunt.

Secret Gardens
Let your thoughts turn to spring and the Shipley Secret Gardens Tour! This year’s tour on May 14 promises to be a lovely and inspiring day. Part of our success comes from wonderful volunteers who staff the gardens as hosts. You don’t need a lot of gardening knowledge – just a friendly smile. Please email Carrie Majors if you can help! Shipley Shops
Believe it or not, planning for 2008 Shipley Shops is already underway. Please email one of the Co-Chairs to sign up for a committee that matches your interests. Email Debbie Dunn, Laura Bradlow or Amy Eads. Let’s work together to make the 2008 Shops a successful event for our school! Mark your calendars: Shops will be Thursday, October 23 through Saturday, October 25, with a preview night on Wednesday, October 22.
