News Shipley sent ten representatives to the People of Color Conference in Boston last month. They learned that diversity isn’t just about race. Find out what else they learned in this article by sophomore Michael Maisel. All-School President Nathan Bronstein won a Best Delegate Award at the Princeton Model UN for his work as First Vice President on the Iranian Supreme National Security Council. Richard Brewer was Shipley's theatre teacher and director for over 20 years. In 2002, his friends and family created a fund to support theatre arts at Shipley. Read about the latest performance made possible through their generosity. Dr. Nooha Ahmed-Lee was named Shipley's new Middle School Head. Read the letter from Steve Piltch.
Winter Sports The season got off to a great start with many teams winning their opening games. At Shipley’s two fundraising basketball tournaments, the boys’ and girls’ basketball teams were champions in more than one way. The boys raised $775 for the American Cancer Society, and the girls collected $250 and two boxes full of unwrapped toys for Toys for Tots. Sophomore swimmer Kelly Sullivan set a new school record of 27.3 seconds in the 50 free in a meet against Lower Merion. Last season, she helped her teammates rewrite the school record book by setting new marks in three relay events. Get more Sports Highlights.
Something We Didn’t Know… Taxes aren’t something we normally get excited about. But a question from a Quaker historian led Tim Blankenhorn, Shipley Archivist, to discover this about Shipley’s early headmistresses, Alice Howland and Eleanor Brownell… Read about what he learned.

Winter Teas Afternoon tea by the fire is a Shipley tradition that takes place on Wednesday afternoons for Upper School students and faculty. If you are able to provide baked goods for hungry students – either homemade or from a bakery – email Donna Blunt or email Andrea Tanenbaum.
