Health Advice
With cold and flu season approaching and so much in the news about MRSA (the antibiotic-resistant staph) and other “superbugs,” our facilities staff is being extra vigilant about keeping everyone at Shipley healthy. Please encourage your children to do their part by keeping their hands clean, washing thoroughly with soap and warm water, and protecting cuts and scrapes with bandages until they are healed.
It is imperative that any SUSPECTED or actual cases of MRSA are reported to one of the school nurses. Email Terri Grossman in the Lower School or email Mary Havens in the Middle/Upper School.
From the Shipley Shops Co-Chairs
THANK YOU! As co-chairs of the 2007 Shops, we wish to thank every person who contributed to a successful Shipley Shops: Shipley's dedicated staff, parent and student volunteers, and (of course) all the shoppers! A special thanks goes to our corporate supporters. Best wishes next year’s co-chairs—Amy, Debbie, and Laura. Please remember to return Shops yard signs to Brownell.

FORMAL ASBESTOS NOTICE
The Asbestos Hazard Emergency Response Act (AHERA) was passed by Congress in response to concerns about asbestos-containing materials in buildings. One of the requirements of the act is that the school notifies you annually regarding the status of asbestos abatement on campus. This notice is intended to satisfy that requirement. The School is in full compliance with all laws regarding containment and management of asbestos. The School passed its most recent inspection in the summer of 2007. Should you be interested in reviewing the information on our program, please call Bob Meals, the Director of Physical Plant, in whose office the school AHERA records and plans are kept.
