Event Recap: Alumni Thanksgiving Events A slightly older alumni crowd gathered at Kelly’s Pub in Bryn Mawr on Wednesday, November 21. The place was packed with Shipley grads, who enjoyed an evening of libations and the company of old friends and classmates. The Shipley boys’ lacrosse team and coaches welcomed back former players, families, and friends for the 2nd annual alumni game on Saturday, November 24th. The afternoon continued with lunch at The Grog in Bryn Mawr. This year’s game featured alumni (green) against the current Shipley varsity squad (white) in a great game that had the alumni coming out on top. Shipley alumni from colleges including Bates, Washington and Lee, Villanova, Fairfield, Moravian, Bucknell, Syracuse, and Colgate, attended the game. Jordan Young ’07 ( Syracuse) was selected as the game's MVP after a standout performance that included a highlight reel goal on a feed from coach Mark Duncan that slipped past current Gators' goalie, Jack Tannenbaum. On Tuesday, November 20, Shipley held its annual Thanksgiving All-School Assembly. Behind-the-scenes staff members were thanked for their contributions to the School, Lower School students sang the Turkey Song, and young alumni came back in droves to visit. In a new addition to the traditional assembly, ’06 graduate Elizabeth Ralph addressed the audience, thanking Shipley for all the School has given her. After the assembly, young alumni gathered in the Upper School Dining Room for a casual reception and mingled with past teachers and classmates.
