Varsity and Junior Varsity athletes were recognized by their coaches with Most Valuable Player and Most Improved Player awards at the Fall 2006 Sports Awards Assembly on November 16 in Yarnall Gymnasium.

Kirsten Small received the Athletic Department Coaching Excellence Award for her role as the Shipley Varsity Girls’ Soccer Coach. In eight years, Small tallied a total of 78 wins, 59 losses, and 10 ties, received the Soccer Official’s Sportsmanship Award twice, and coached the 2004 Girls’ InterAc Tournament Championship team. She also coached the team’s all-time leading scorer, Rae Goldstein (159 points) for five years. Small gave up her role as coach after the 2005 season to spend more time with her family.
