Letters from the Head of School

January 28, 2005

Dear Shipley Families:

It is with a heavy heart that I inform you of the passing of Conrad Ambrette II, father of Conrad in grade six, and husband of Donna.

Conrad II was an energetic, enthusiastic, and committed individual. He was passionate about the outdoors and particularly enjoyed hiking and biking. With all of his passions, he took special pride in being a parent and doing things with young Conrad. Mr. Ambrette’s love for his son and Donna was greater than life itself.

His life was celebrated in a Mass of Christian Burial on Saturday January 21, at St. Katharine of Sienna Church, in Wayne. It was a very touching service, as two of his friends, Richard Hall, Jr. and Art Elwood, spoke about him in a compelling manner. Clearly, Conrad was a special person.

Having seen many of our sixth grade students and their parents at the service, I know that people in this community will continue to support Conrad III and Donna. Our thoughts and prayers are with them and their family.

Contributions can be made in Conrad’s name to the Bicycle Coalition of Greater Philadelphia, 100 S. Broad St., Suite 1355, Philadelphia, PA 19110-1023.

I look forward to seeing you soon.

Sincerely,

Steven S. Piltch
Head of School
