Six of Shipley’s talented sixth-grade writers were selected as award-winners in the Gladwyne Library League’s 36th Annual Junior Author Contest. Over 800 students from seventeen area schools submitted entries.
In the Non Fiction category, Hannah Kramer won first place for her story, “The Zipline.” Jimmy Unger placed second for “Big Enough to Keep.” And both Meghan Smith and Noah Yecies received honorable mentions in the same category. Charles Wilmerding received third place in the Fiction category for “A Sea Giant.” Spencer Bolling’s poem “Car Lights” won third place. The Library League hosted a reception for the award-winners on February 29 at Gladwyne Elementary School. All contest entries will be bound into volumes and kept as part of the Gladwyne Public Library’s permanent collection.
