About Student Support

Student Support Services are an integral part of Shipley’s “whole child” approach to education. The support provided is developmental in nature and designed to connect health (physical, social, and emotional) with academic skill development. Student Support Services address student needs through:

  • A sequential Pre-K through 12 “core values” curriculum
  • Group and individual meetings
  • Advocacy
  • Assessment
  • Intervention
  • Consultation
  • Referral

The Student Support Team is comprised of the appropriate Division Head and Assistant Head, Director of Student Support Services, Psychologist or Counselor, Dean or Learning Coordinator, Student Advocate, and School Nurse.  The divisional teams meet weekly or twice monthly. The primary goal of this team is to help students overcome barriers that may impede their success. The team identifies, refers, and intervenes with students to ensure their success at Shipley.
