Shipley's STAND Chapter Chosen to Represent PA Schools
The Shipley STAND chapter (Students Taking Action Now: Darfur) was chosen to represent Pennsylvania high schools at a screening of the recently-released movie, Darfur Now. The three STAND student leaders (Steve Spragale, Alicia Weigel, and Lia Wertheimer) and two STAND committee members (Molly Conlin and Avital Datskovsky) prepared handouts on the genocide and the Pennsylvania Sudan Accountability and Divestment Act (SADA).

At the screening on November 1, they spoke to the audience about Shipley’s work in STAND and then distributed the handouts and had  conversations with many members of the audience.

The STAND students are reaching out to all divisions of the School to explore age-appropriate ideas to raise awareness and create a call-to-action.
