January is a busy month in the college application process. With most applications due on February 1, seniors’ apprehension about what college they’ll attend will last until the acceptance letters start rolling in later this spring. At that point, students’ uneasiness will take on a different target. What will college life be like? Will I like my roommate? Will I make friends? How challenging will my courses be? It’s an exciting—and nerve-wracking—time in students’ lives.
At the Alumni College Panel on Thursday, January 10, recent graduates offered seniors advice and experienced perspectives on college life. From managing roommates to managing time, Shipley alumni gave honest and enlightening answers to seniors’ burning questions. Julie Kolson ’07 (Ithaca), offered final words of wisdom for students feeling nervous about getting into their first choice, “Wherever you go and whatever you do, you’ll be fine. You’ll learn something new and have fun—no matter where you go.”
