Dear Shipley Families:
I am deeply sorry to share with you the news of the passing of Lou Brown, who was the husband of Karen, a long-time and valued member of the Shipley External Relations Department, and the father of Carolyn (Grade 11) and Danny (Grade 8). Those who knew Lou will remember him as a vibrant, caring, and committed individual. He was diagnosed with cancer a year and a half ago and fought it courageously until he passed away at 12:10 a.m. on Tuesday, the fourteenth. Lou was a practicing lawyer until he became too ill to work. He loved Karen, Carolyn, and Danny in an extraordinarily special way. Our thoughts, love, and prayers go out to Karen, Carolyn, Danny, and other members of the family. Services for Lou will take place on Tuesday, the 21st of February at The Joseph Levine & Son, Inc. Funeral Home at 2811 West Chester Pike in Broomall. Karen, Carolyn, Danny, and other members of the family will begin receiving people at 11:00 a.m. The service will follow at 12:00 noon, with interment following at Valley Forge Memorial Gardens. In the evening of Tuesday, the 21st the family will receive visitors at their home. Since we will not be in session on Tuesday, it makes sense for people to go to the service on their own. In turn, we will not provide any transportation to the service. Memorial gifts in Lou’s name may be made to The Cancer Center at Paoli Hospital, at 255 West Lancaster Avenue, Paoli, PA 19301 It is in these most difficult of times that we come together as a Shipley community to do our best work. I know we will do whatever we can for Karen, Carolyn, and Danny, and we will update this page with suggestions for those who may be interested in helping. Thank you for your understanding and compassion in this situation. I look forward to seeing you soon. Sincerely, Steven S. Piltch
