Letter from Steve Piltch

February 2008

Dear Shipley Families:

I hope everyone is braving the cold well. It is nicer to be indoors right now!

After an exhaustive search process, I am happy to tell you that we have appointed Adam Wojtelwicz as our new Business Manager/CFO. Adam, who will begin working at Shipley on May 5, is an energetic, committed, and talented individual. People who met him during the process were impressed by his warmth, sincerity, and conviction. His references tell us that “he is most knowledgeable from a financial perspective and will do whatever needs to be done to make Shipley successful.”

Adam has spent his entire professional career in some form of education, and has experience as teacher, counselor, and coach, as well as in finance. He was, for eight years, Director of Finance at Archmere Academy in Delaware, and is currently Chief Financial Officer at Foundations, Inc., a non-profit that advises schools on finance, budgeting, and accounting systems.

Since he will start in May, Adam will have at least two months to work with Gil Smith, our fabulous Business Manager, who will be retiring in June. This timetable will afford Adam a period in which to learn our financial systems and get to know colleagues (faculty and staff), trustees, and parents in a relaxed and comfortable manner. Adam will be here a number of times between now and May for finance committee meetings and other events as his schedule allows. We are most excited about his appointment!

Adam and his wife, Gina, live in Aston, PA with their two children, Nicholas, nine and in fourth grade, and Lexi, five and in kindergarten. Adam received his B.A. from Kentucky Wesleyan College, where he played varsity baseball and football, and his M.B.A. from Eastern University. I know you will join me in welcoming Adam, Gina, Nicholas, and Lexi to the Shipley community.

Warmest regards,

Steven S. Piltch
Head of School
