MLK Volunteer Reflection Breakfast

Please note: Transportation to off-campus service activities will be provided from Shipley. Students should meet at Shipley at start times shown.
1. Jewish Relief Agency (10-12 volunteers)
Rescheduled for Sunday, January 20
9:30 a.m – 12:30 p.m.
Faculty sponsors: Peter Schumacher & Jay Jennings
Sort and pack food at the Jewish Relief Agency in
North Philadelphia.
**Open to 5th – 12th grade students and families.
Volunteers should bring lunch.
2. Cradles to Crayons (10 volunteers)
10:30 a.m. – 2:30 p.m.
Faculty sponsor: Elizabeth Dougherty
Sort and pack items for children at the Cradles to Crayons
event at Germantown High School in Philadelphia.
**Open to 5th – 12th grade students and families.
Students should bring lunch.
3. Har Zion Temple (8-10 volunteers)
1:30 p.m. – 4:30 p.m.
Faculty sponsor: Cookie Angstadt
**Open to 5th – 12th grade students and families.
Help sort clothing and other goods for people in need.
4. Cook for Ronald McDonald House (6 volunteers)
10:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. in the Shipley kitchen
Faculty sponsor: Deb Veraldi
Prep food that will be taken to the Ronald McDonald House.
Members of the Cheer Squad will get first priority.
5. Sew for ConKerr Organization (8-10 volunteers)
1:00 – 3:00 p.m. in the MS Resource Room
Faculty sponsors: Betsy Havens & Deb Veraldi
**Open to 5th – 12th grade students and families.
Sew fun pillowcases for children being treated in area hospitals.
6. Games at Wayne Senior Center (8 volunteers)
9:30 a.m. – 12:00 p.m.
Faculty sponsor: Patrick Wotus
**Open to 8th – 12th grade students.
Play board games with members of the Wayne Senior Center.
7. Broad Street Ministry (10-12 volunteers)
7:45 a.m. – 1:00 p.m.
Faculty sponsors: Dorothy Maddock & Sandi Richards
**Open to 9th – 12th grade students and families.
(8th graders are welcome with special permission.)
Work with senior citizens and homeless individuals.
8. Children of Iraq Activity
10:00 a.m. – 12:30 p.m.
Faculty sponsor: Maria Stroup
Pack supplies for and write letters to children in Iraq.
Service Options for Lower School Students:
10:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m.
All activities will take place in Lower School
- Assemble arts and crafts kits and baby kits for Cradles to Crayons
- Assemble first aid kits for the Family School
- Sort clean, used uniforms to be donated to the Family School
- Make cards for soldiers in Iraq and senior center residents
- Older children are invited to read to the younger students
