Summertime and the living is easy! But not for Shipley’s Technology team. Classrooms and hallways might be empty of students and teachers, but the tech guys are busy updating the School’s network, rewiring offices, and installing new software and computers—only a few of the tasks in their growing list of to-dos. Just goes to show that technology doesn’t ever slow down. Neither does Shipley’s compassionate participation in the world.
In the midst of the hustle and bustle of their busy season, members of Shipley’s Tech team delivered 25 computers to the Gesu School in North Philadelphia on June 30. Shipley’s donation will help provide computers for two new floors of classrooms and offices, as well as stocking the school’s lab with enough computers for whole classes to work there. The Gesu School is an independent pre-K through grade 8 Catholic school in North Philadelphia. Serving a community of underprivileged children, the school has earned a reputation as a national model for inner-city education. Shipley’s donation to Gesu builds on an existing relationship, which both schools hope to strengthen in the future.
