Letters from the Head of School

April 3, 2006

Dear Shipley Family –

It is with great sadness that I share with you the news that Jordan Rosenfeld ’03 was killed in a car accident this past Saturday in Florida. Jordan was returning to his home outside of Orlando from visiting his grandparents in Sarasota. Although Jordan’s parents, Sam and Sacha, spend most of their time in Sarasota, Florida, the service, which will take place Wednesday, April 5 at noon, will be held at the Joseph Levine Funeral Home at 2811 West Chester Pike in Broomall. Interment will follow at the Haym Salomon Memorial Park in Frazer.

Jordan joined us as a fifth grader and spent eight years here before graduating in 2003. During his high school years he was actively involved as an admissions scout and as a manager of our boys’ basketball and tennis teams. After he graduated from Shipley, he went off to Rollins College in Winter Park, Florida. Personable and caring, he was a dear and loyal friend who had the ability to bring people together in a very special way. People liked Jordan a great deal, and his spirit will live on through all those who knew him.

At the request of a number of people and in support of the Rosenfeld family, we have established the Jordan Rosenfeld Memorial Fund. Jordan’s parents have asked that, if you are interested in remembering Jordan in this way, you send a check to the School or to the SPCA in his memory. A check for Shipley should be made out to The Shipley School and sent to the External Relations Department with a note indicating that it is for the Jordan Rosenfeld Memorial Fund.

Our thoughts, love, and prayers go out to Sam and Sacha Rosenfeld and the entire family. The Rosenfelds will be sitting shiva and receiving people after the burial on Wednesday afternoon and evening and all day Thursday and during the day on Friday, April 5, 6, and 7 at the home of Jordan’s maternal grandmother, Mrs. Sonia Crane, at 407 Oakwynne Drive in Wynnewood.

In addition, if you would like to write them, you can send a note to the following address:
Dr. and Mrs. Sam Rosenfeld
4239 Mangrove Place
Sarasota, FL 34242

Sincerely,
Steven S. Piltch
Head of School
