Alumni Network Instructions

Using the Shipley Alumni Network:
Why use Shipley’s Alumni Network?  It’s an easy and fun way to stay connected with classmates.  It also helps keep Shipley’s records accurate, because any changes Alumni make on the Network are downloaded into the Shipley database.  Finally, when the time comes to switch jobs, The Alumni Career Network can put you in touch with hundreds of alumni in a multitude of professions!

For instructions, read on!

Logging on and starting up

  1. Go to Shipley's website, http://www.shipleyschool.org/.
  2. At the home page, click "Alumni" at the top (in the second row).
  3. On the left navigation bar, click "Alumni Network."
  4. Again on the left navigation bar, click "Log into Alumni Network."
  5. Enter your last name in the box provided and click "Submit."
  6. Another screen will appear.  Choose your name from the list provided and click "Submit."
  7. Enter your password.  If this is your first time logging on to the Alumni Network, enter your five-digit zip code (it may be the zip code of your last address or if you are a recent graduate, your parent’s address), which has been set as your default password.  You will be asked to change your password to something of your choice.  If you have already logged into the Network, you should know your password, but if you have forgotten it, contact Shipley for a reminder.
  8. You're in!

Your Class Page

  1. At the top are messages to all members of the class.
  2. Below that is a box of Class Facts and Figures, which shows how many classmates have email, how many Class Notes have been posted, and a link to view Class Photos (if any are posted).
  3. Below that is a list of Your Classmates.  Click on anyone's name and you'll see that person's current contact information.  A picture of an envelope indicates an email address for that classmate.  Just click on the envelope to send an email.  A picture of a pencil indicates a Class Note has been posted by him or her.  (See Legend in upper right corner for all symbol explanations).
  4. Below the Legend on the right side, you'll see a box where you can Change [the] Class you're viewing (for example if you're a '78 alum, but want to find a friend in '79).

Your Profile
On the left navigation bar, there are several options that help you navigate your way through the Alumni Network.

  1. By clicking “Class Pages,” you access the homepage of your class.
  2. By clicking "Class Notes," you can post a note to the Alumni Network, which may also be published in an upcoming issue of the Bulletin.  You can also view recently posted Class Notes from various classes.
  3. By clicking “Search for Classmates,” you can find any Shipley alumna/us in any class by entering last name, first name, class year, state, etc.
  4. By clicking “Class Agents,” you can view profiles of volunteers from your class—Class Correspondents, Reunion Team Members, and Annual Fund Class Agents.  If you serve in one of those volunteer positions, you may use this feature to send emails to your entire class at one time (an option only available to alumni volunteers).
  5. By clicking "Edit Your Profile," you can update personal information about yourself, e.g. current address, email, business, spouse, education, etc.  Note:  Please be sure to complete as much information as possible.
  6. By clicking "Missing Alumni,” you will be able to see a list of classmates who are “Lost” in Shipley’s database (i.e. Shipley does not have a current address, phone number, or email for them).  This feature also gives you an opportunity to help Shipley find lost classmates.
  7. By clicking “Career Network,” you can access a search engine that will connect you to Shipley alumni in various careers and locations all around the world.  This instantly connects you to Shipley alumni who can help you obtain advice in a vast variety of careers.  Once you are successfully employed, return the favor to other Shipley Alums by completing your own career profile.
  8. By clicking “Email Services,” you can choose to receive email notifications when a classmate adds a note or changes an email address.
  9. By clicking “Change Password,” you can personalize your password and save it for permanent use.

That’s it!  The Shipley Alumni Network is a great tool!  It’s fun, easy and informative!  Use it often!  Questions?  Contact Ashley Reichenbach at 610-581-4656 or areichenbach@shipleyschool.org.
