Letters from the Head of School

April 14, 2004

Dear Family and Friends,

Over this past weekend, Mr. Erich Sippel, husband of Barbara, and father of Katherine’98 and Evan’04 passed away in his sleep. Erich was an active participant in many events here over the years. He dearly loved Barbara, Katherine and Evan. Although he was a very successful consultant and was incredibly committed to education, his life revolved around his family. At the funeral service today, Katherine and Evan spoke eloquently and openly about their relationships with their dad. Their words were very touching.

As a result of Erich’s great love and appreciation of his experience as a student at Washington University, a memorial fund has been established in his name at Wash U. If you are interested in making such a contribution, please direct it as follows:

Mr. Bill Stoll
Washington University
Arts and Sciences Scholarship Fund
Campus Box 1228
One Brookings Drive
St. Louis, MO 63130

Erich Sippel will be missed by all those who knew him. Our thoughts, love and prayers go out to Barbara, Katherine, Evan, and other members of the family. I know that each of us will find our own ways to be there for all of them in days, weeks, and months ahead.

Sincerely,

Steven S. Piltch
Head of School
