Social Studies Special  “Test” for LAURELS

This special “test” will be to create your own Let’s Go Traveling book about the ancient civilizations studied this year. These would include the ancient Maya, the Sumerians, the Egyptians, the Chinese and the Greeks.

Your book will need a

                                                COVER and 6 INTERIOR PAGES

It should look like this, having two pages (facing) dedicated to each civilization.

The first page inside the cover will have your passport - a real necessity for travel!

Your final page or the back cover should have your ABOUT THE AUTHOR.

Your title may be Let’s Go Traveling or something else if you have another idea.

cover

2 facing pages per civilization -

Sumer, Egypt, Maya, China,Greece

On the two pages devoted to each civilization you should have at least 5 facts (or more) and 3 of the following -

a map of the country or area

some drawings  or pictures with information

a sample of your work if available ( things like your original MAYA NAME GLYPHS, your CARTOUCHES,

                                    etc)

any other tidbits you would like to include (the original book may

                                    suggest some ideas)

This book is really a collection of information about the civilizations we have studied this year written as a travel book. Your book MUST have some narrative connecting each civilization (like “Now we are off to….)

This will be due on May 30 or before. Some class time will be devoted to getting your books started and then you can work at home to complete them.
