Fifth Grade Laurel Project Part 1 Research Ancient Greek Musical Instruments Either draw five Ancient Greek Instruments on a poster for display in color or make a replica of an Ancient Greek Instrument and report on this instrument to the class. Note: Ancient Greek Instruments included; the lyre, flutes, the aulos (a wind instrument similar to the recorder) the syrinx, the diaulos, the kithara, (a stringed instrument), the krotala, the lute, the tympanoa drum, the kymbala cymbals and pandean pipes. Other Greek instruments include cymbals, rattles (membranaphones), clappers, drums, the sistrum, the mismar, the harp, and bells. Instruments can be found on the web by using the instrument name as a key word or by using the phrase, “Ancient Greek Instruments”. This project will be due by
Part 2 Learn to play and perform The Olympic Fanfare on the soprano recorder. Using the notes B, A, G and D, learn to play The Olympic Fanfare for 5th Grade Greek Day. Fifth graders will be expected to play this piece from memory with a smooth, soft and lovely tone quality. Copies of the piece will be handed out in music class. Mrs. Wilson will teach the piece and offer practice sessions in music class, but some additional practice at home may be necessary. This project is due by
