Local Book Authors Present Book Talks for Shipley Lower School Students
Local author Pat Hughes read from and discussed her recently published historical novel, “The Breaker Boys,” which spins a story around the lives of young boys in the coal mining industry in 1890’s Pennsylvania. She talked about how difficult their lives were and how they were forced to grow up and work like men.

Younger readers enjoyed a reading by author/illustrator Robert Weinstock. His new picture book is titled, “Gordimer Byrd’s Reminder.” His reading was followed by a drawing demonstration and an invitation to the listeners to draw illustrations of their own. Mr. Weinstock is the uncle of Shipley Lower School students Noah and Avery Yecies.
