Quick Notes II
Congratulations to David Kimmel, a fourth grader at The Shipley School who won the Design-a-Bookmark Contest for children ages 6-12 sponsored by Lower Merion Libraries as part of their celebration of Children’s Book Week.

Nat Drake ’02 returned to Shipley with his Yale University improv troupe, Viola Question. They performed a number of skits for Lower School students in early January. The students were delighted with the interactive program.

Middle School students watched a play, “The Diary of Anne Frank,” as part of their Holocaust education unit. The play is an adaptation of the book by the same name and was performed by the Anne Frank Theater Project. The Project is  part of the Jewish Family & Children’s Services of Greater Philadelphia and presents the play to school and church groups throughout the area.

Middle School service students continue their monthly service program in a variety of on- and off-campus activities. Swannee Park and Ruth Joray have been overseeing a sewing project with 6 – 8 grade students who have been busily making stuffed animals for donation to Travelers Aid Philadelphia (TAP). TAP is a non-profit social service agency offering professional counseling and case management services to homeless families and individuals. They also provide support for stranded travelers and newcomers to the area. They are partnered with the City of Philadelphia and with the Office of Emergency Shelter and Services.
