Shipley Sprouts Earn 61 Ribbons at the Pennsylvania Horticultural Society 2004 Flower Show
In four days of competition at this year's Flower Show, Shipley Sprouts proved that they were a force to reckon with in horticulture. This year, fourteen students submitted well over 60 entries in 67 classes.  With tough competition from gardening clubs, three students, Allison Gibbons, Gigi Combe, and Emily Chapin, entered class 176, the window box and hanging basket category. They created a beautiful window display with succulent cactuses, garnering a third place ribbon, and respect from the other gardeners in the class.

There were 8 blue ribbons awarded to 8 first time Sprouts, moving them out of the novice class and into the experienced gardeners class for future flower shows. Two Sprouts were also recognized for their entries in the dishgarden class.

Mrs. Peck, horticulturalist and faculty advisor to Sprouts, received many compliments from other gardeners about the standard of excellence set by Shipley participants.
