The Turkeys Go on Strike
3rd graders wowed parents, teachers, and fellow students with their rendition of “The Turkeys Go on Strike,” by Ron Fink and John Heath. The musical play is a funny take on the Thanksgiving theme. The turkeys catch on to the fact that right around holiday time they start disappearing. They decide to demand more rights so they go on strike, which grabs the attention of the local TV reporters. Squash and cranberries also decide to take advantage of this opportunity by becoming the center of attention, literally, on the Thanksgiving Day dinner plate. Meanwhile, TV reporters track down Pilgrims and Native Americans to find out about the true history of Thanksgiving, but it finally takes the football coach and his players to resolve the dispute to remind people Thanksgiving is not about  the “turkey.” Thanksgiving is about giving thanks for everyone and everything in our lives.
