Sophomore Eric Simpson Winner at Warminster Symphony Orchestra Young Artists 2004 Competition
Eric Simpson, a sophomore at Shipley, will be the featured Violin Soloist at the Warminster Symphony Orchestra's March 19th, 2005 Concert. Eric, the winner in the Senior Division (age 18-22) Warminster Symphony Orchestra Young Artists 2004 Competition, will perform Beethoven’s Violin Concerto, (First Movement.)  The March concert, titled “The Water,” will also feature the music of Handel, Tchaikovsky, Smetana, and Bernstein.

Eric also recently competed in and won the Oct. 17, 2004 Delaware County Symphony Orchestra's Youth Concerto Competition (open to students from grades 9-12).  His solo performance will be May 1, 2005, at the Meagher Theater at Neumann College, Aston, PA where he will perform the entire Beethoven Violin Concerto--3 movements.

Simpson began studying violin when he was four. He made his first appearance as a soloist with a professional orchestra in 2001 with the Ocean City Pops, playing Mozart's violin concerto No. 3. He has won recognition in multiple concerto competitions and appeared as a soloist with a number of orchestras including the Ambler Symphony Orchestra, the Bucks County Symphony Orchestra, and the Pottstown Symphony Orchestra.

In addition, Eric performs with the Myer Schwartz Advanced Piano Trio, The Settlement Music School, the Shipley School Upper School String Ensemble, and area youth orchestras.
