Upper School Highlights
- On average, 28 percent of Upper School students receive National Merit recognition each year.
- Christin Zurbach and Chris Sfedu, both ’09, each won $10 000 scholarships from the National Security Language Initiative for Youth sponsored by the US Department of State to learn Arabic and Turkish abroad.
- The Shipley chapter of Students Taking Action against Darfur Now (STAND) is one of only a few high school chapters in the country.
- Promoting global awareness and individualized experiences, Shipley regularly sends students for terms at The Island School in Eleuthera, BH, and The Mountain School in Vershire, VT, and City Term
- Over 30 Upper School students regularly participate in the North American Invitational Model UN
- In 2008, the Shipley Green Gators Environmental Club won first place in the National Lexus Environmental Challenge.
- In 2008 and 2009, 16 and 20 seniors, respectively, and four faculty members spent two weeks in New Orleans and West Virginia in service trips to promote diversity and understanding
