Welcome to Philadelphia! If you’ve come to this section of our website, you may well need information about more than just Shipley. Moving can be a complicated and nerve-wracking venture. Decisions on a host of matters need to be made quickly and there’s a steep learning curve: What are the various neighborhoods around Philadelphia like? What are the schools like? How close are schools to a given neighborhood?

Of course, since this is Shipley’s website, we also have a lot of information about the school. Shipley’s mission-driven emphasis on preparing students for compassionate participation in the world makes our community particularly welcoming for globally-oriented families.

Academically, we offer a challenging and innovative curriculum including courses in global and interdisciplinary studies. Our robust language program, with an integrated, immersion approach, includes Latin, Mandarin, Spanish and French. Relocations do not always happen in concert with the school year calendar, and we are happy to work within your timeframe to explore enrollment mid-year. We also offer a welcoming orientation program to all new families, where you will be matched with a Shipley host family to help you navigate your new environs.
