Don’t Miss the Upper School Fall Plays: November 19 – 21, 2010
Upper School students will present three performances of the Fall Plays starting Friday, November 19.
Tony Morinelli is directing Lend Me a Tenor, which opened in the West End in 1987 and was the recipient of seven Tony Awards. Lend Me a Tenor is grand farce and marks the first time in many years that Shipley will produce a fully staged production for the fall plays. The sets are being designed by Philadelphia Architect and Shipley alumnus, Robert Douglass ’00, and executed by Shipley parent Roy Rainer and Adams Lee Construction.
Emma Gibson is directing freshman performers in a short excerpt from a British play called Bogus Woman by Kays Adhead. The play explores the plight of refugees who arrive in the UK seeking asylum and the poor conditions that they are greeted with. It was written as a one-woman play, but Shipley is using a cast of six to try and tell a little of the story.
Phillip Brown is directing both a radio drama and another powerful one act called Lepers.
