Art from the Gardens - 2013 Artists
The following eight artists have graciously signed on to paint our exquisite gardens en plein air both before and during The 39th Annual Secret Gardens Tour. Their incredible work will be available for sale at the Garden Boutique and Art Gallery at The Willows on the day of the tour.
Ed Bronstein
Ed Bronstein has lived, worked, and helped raise his children in Center City Philadelphia since 1966. He practiced Architecture for over 30 years, and taught Architecture at Drexel University as an Adjunct Professor from 1982 to 2012. He began painting in 1989, as a Continuing Education student at the Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts and periodically at Fleisher Art Memorial over many years, including as a substitute teacher. He served on the Philadelphia Art Commission as an appointee of Mayor Ed Rendell from 1996 to 2001.

Valerie Craig
Valerie Craig has drawn and painted nearly all her life. Her oil and watercolor paintings are suffused with soft light and convey a sensitive approach.

Monique Lazard
Monique Lazard began painting and drawing as a young girl and never stopped. Her passion remains painting anything that catches her eye.

Elaine Lisle
Elaine Lisle is a Philadelphia artist whose work explodes with color and light. Her paintings are more likely to be joyous, energetic, vibrant, complex works as opposed to gentle, pastel or brooding canvasses.

Deirdre Murphy
Deirdre Murphy teaches drawing and painting at the University of Pennsylvania and is the Exhibition Coordinator at the Main Line Art Center. She received her MFA from the University of Pennsylvania and her BFA from the Kansas City Art Institute. Murphy has been the recipient of numerous awards and residencies and was a Pennsylvania Council for the Arts Fellow. She is currently represented by the Gross Mcleaf Gallery in Philadelphia and her work can be viewed at www.deirdremurphyart.com.

Dori Spector
Dori Spector is a local artist who enjoys painting the landscape, figure and still life. I am motivated to paint what does not last long, like the changing seasons and light, and seasonal flowers. Lately she has been trying to put the figure in the landscape, primarily in the garden. Dori graduated from Moore College of Art and Design, and is constantly studying privately,and taking classes around the country to improve her skills. She is represented by various galleries in the Philadelphia area and in the US.

Angela Scully
A self-taught artist, Angela Scully's colorful and energetic still life, landscapes and animal paintings are in many private collections and are often shown in galleries and coffee shops in the Philadelphia area where she has won several awards. Angela is inspired by epic seascapes and clouds reflecting on open land. An ardent animal lover, she also enjoys capturing their spirit and expression.
