Shipley Community Celebrates Super Saturday and New Fields!
Super Saturday is an annual Shipley tradition, with all proceeds benefiting student-chosen charities – local, national and international. “Our Shipley community came out in record numbers to play in our gym, laugh and deepen friendships and cheer on our sports teams as they passionately gave their best selves on the fields and on the courts yesterday,” said Maria Stroup, Co-Director of Community Life.
This year, we were thrilled to combine Super Saturday festivities with the official opening of the new turf fields. For the first time in Shipley history, fans enjoyed three varsity games - Boys’ Varsity Soccer, Girls’ Varsity Soccer and Girls’ Varsity Field Hockey -on our main campus.
At the ribbon-cutting ceremony, head of school Steve Piltch thanked everyone who made the fields possible. Board Chair Adam Spector celebrated the outward transformation of the campus, as well as Shipley’s ongoing commitment to excellence on the fields and in the classroom. The team co-captains actually cut the ribbon and officially opened the fields, ushering in a glimpse of Shipley’s future.
