Middle School Service Learning Program Description

Students in the Middle School participate in Service Fridays once each month throughout the academic year. On these Service Fridays, the academic day ends at 12:20 and the students eat lunch and perform service for the remainder of the school day. Students may select their activity from among 14 options and they remain in this activity throughout the year, building relationships and connections with those served, and their group members.

Activities may include visiting a nursing home, environmental work, sorting and packing food at a food bank, brightening the days of the sick and disabled, playing with children at a day care center, and cycling to raise money for cancer research. All Middle School students and faculty members participate.

Other service trips and fundraisers take place throughout the year, and outside-of-school options are open to interested Middle School students and their families. Students are recognized for their service involvement at a celebration assembly at the end of the school year.
