Shipley Boys' Lacrosse Picks Up 6th Win of Season

Boys’ Lacrosse 04/17/07 Shipley-9 Perkiomen-1
The Shipley School boys’ lacrosse team picked up its 6th win (6-2, 1-0 NE, 0-0 FSL) of the season, overpowering visiting Perkiomen School 9-1 in the team’s first NE League contest of 2007.
Shipley junior John Hird led the way on attack with 3 goals and 3 assists for 6 points. Sophomore attackman Will Lawlor added 2 goals and 2 assists. Junior middie Jack Hilzinger added 2 goals and an assist, and seniors Mike Sulewski and Sam Foster each had a goal. Hird now has 108 Shipley career goals, 2 shy of tying Luke Strathmann’s (Bates) 110 goal mark set during the 2006 season. Hird currently leads all Shipley scorers with 26 goals and 7 assists for 33 points in 8 games.
The defense was led by senior face-off specialist Pete Cianelli, who won 8 face-offs, junior defenseman Ethan Magill, who scooped up 10 groundballs, and sophomore goalie Jack Tanenbaum, who picked up his first career shutout as a starter playing 3 1/2 quarters and turning away 7 shots.
The Gators open up Friends Schools League play on Thursday, April 19 against Westtown School at Shipley’s Farm fields in Gladwyne at 3:45pm.
