Shipley girls’ basketball defeated Germantown Friends for the third time this year to advance to the PA Independent Schools State Final. The Gators just edged out the Tigers by 42-38. Shipley’s Alisha Fairfax managed to put the game on ice in the closing seconds with a few clutch free throws that put the game out of reach.
Leading the way for the Gators were Alex Lennon and Alisha Fairfax, both scoring 16 points each. Lennon finished the night with a line of 16 points, 12 rebounds, 1 assist, 1 steal, and 4 blocks. Fairfax had 16 points, 3 rebounds, 3 assists and 5 steals. Fairfax also connected on two 3 point baskets throughout the contest. Also tallying in the scorers column were Shipley juniors Alex Davis and Mo Gentry, each finishing with 5 points.
