On February 6, four varsity soccer players from The Shipley School in Bryn Mawr announced that they will continue their soccer careers at Division 1 schools next year.
Jess Rosenbluth, a four-year varsity starting midfielder/striker was recruited by Penn State. She accepted the school’s offer of admission with the intention of playing soccer for the school’s Division 1 women’s team. Rosenbluth was named Main Line Life Player of the Year in 2006, as well as All-League FSL First Team and All Main Line First Team in 2006 and 2007. In 2005, she was named to the All Main Line Second Team and received an honorable mention by the All-League FSL team. During her Shipley soccer career, she scored 39 goals and 19 assists, for a total of 97 points. Dakota Carroll signed a National Letter of Intent to attend and play soccer for St. Bonaventure University in New York. Carroll was named to the All-League First Teams each year she played at Shipley (FSL in 2005, 2006, and 2007, Inter-Ac in 2004). She was named All Main Line First Team in 2004 and 2005, and All Main Line Second Team in 2006 and 2007. Carroll scored 48 goals and 35 assists, for a total of 131 points during her four years as a starting striker for the Gators. Laura DiClemente signed a National Letter of Intent to attend Providence College and play on the school’s Division 1 women’s soccer team. DiClemente, who transferred to Shipley in her sophomore year, was named All-League FSL First Team and All Main Line Second Team in 2005, 2006, and 2007. The three-year varsity starting midfielder tallied a total of 21 goals and 47 assists for a Shipley career total of 89 points. Rosenbluth, Carroll, and DiClemente were pivotal forces on the Shipley girls’ varsity soccer team. The girls helped lead Shipley to three championship titles in 2006 and 2007 in the FSL, and in 2004 in the Inter-Ac. In 2005 the Gators wrapped up a successful season as FSL runners-up. Nikhil Gregg has been a Shipley soccer standout on the varsity starting squad since his freshman year. He helped lead the Gators to back-to-back Friends Schools League titles in 2005 & 2006 and a Keystone Conference title in 2004. In 2006, Nikhil was named to the All Friends Schools League 1st team and the All Main Line 1st team. In his junior year, Nikhil scored an impressive 10 goals and tallied 14 assists to help the team win the championship. Nikhil is heading to Colgate University next year to play soccer for the Division 1 side. With his unbelievable ball skills and his unmatched speed he will be a player to watch in the Patriot League.
