While others spent spring break relaxing on beaches in exotic locations, Shipley athletes headed to Florida for spring training and team building to gear up for the spring sports season and fine tune their game plans in hopes of securing Friends Schools League championships and other regional titles in May.
The Shipley boys’ and girls’ lacrosse teams and the baseball team headed to Disney World’s Wide World of Sports, while the crew team ventured to Miami. All teams took advantage of the beautiful weather in the Sunshine State to get a leg up on the competition (and get a nice tan) by training for up to six hours a day, as well as playing scrimmages and official games. All the players, coaches, and Shipley parents who attended the week agreed it was a great time and the perfect way to build team chemistry for the spring season.

Shipley Crew
This year the Shipley crew team traveled to Miami Beach, Florida for spring break training. Both the boys’ and girls’ teams spent approximately six hours each day on the water, making vast improvements in both their technique and conditioning. Although the practices were very strenuous, everyone found time to enjoy the scenery and explore the surroundings. Aside from the benefits that were gained on the water, the trip also served as a great bonding experience, which is extremely important in rowing. The teams are now looking forward to putting all of their hard work to use in the upcoming racing season. The team’s first race is on Sunday, April 15th, and they will conclude the season at the National Championships, which will be held in Camden, NJ this year.
