Shipley’s varsity volleyball team won 3-1 against Springside School on Friday, February 9, to advance the Gators’ record to 8-6.

Individual game scores were 25-15, 13-25, 27-25, and 25-16. The Shipley girls played a great defensive game to wrap up the regular season.  Four Shipley players had five or more digs. Shipley senior co-captain, Julia Drake, led the team with seven; Junior Christina Zipf had six; and seniors Jen Haas and Alice Bosley both had five digs each. Shipley’s Stevie Snyder and junior Helen Edwards each had four solo blocks on the way to the team’s victory.

Offensively, Snyder and freshman Jess Stokes had 6 kills each, with Stokes delivering a team high .200 hitting percentage.

The Independent Volleyball League Semi-Finals will take place on Tuesday, February 13th as the Shipley girls travel to Agnes Irwin to play the top-seeded AIS team in hopes of advancing to the Finals on Thursday.
