The Shipley girls' lacrosse team (6-4, 1-0 FSL) beat Moorestown Friends on Tuesday, April 15, by a score of 18-7 for their first league victory of the 2008 season.
Shipley's defense, comprised of sophomore Sam Wolfson, junior Anna Heywood, and seniors Jenny Kley and Elise Mercier, were able to keep Moorestown Friends to only one goal in the first half. Sophomore goalie Ali Piltch had 10 saves in the win. Shipley's offense was led by sophomore Tara Stokes, with 4 goals and 5 assists for a season high of 9 points. Senior Leigh Ann Quill also had a season high of 7 points, with 4 goals and 3 assists. Sophomore midfielder Jill Keeney scored her first goal of the season and picked up her first hat trick as a varsity player. Also scoring for the Gators were senior Jess Rosenbluth with 2 goals, as well as sophomore Claudia deBotton and juniors Chase Markee and Norah Maxwell each registering 1 goal.
