Rae helps lead the Gators (19-3, 8-0 FSL), with an average 8.1 points per game, 2.6 steals per game, 2.8 assists per game with a 2:1 assists/turnover ratio, and 29 rebounds on the season for 1.5 per game. She is shooting 49.3% from the floor. On the basketball court, Goldstein can play any position asked of her. Gladly sacrificing her offense to take on the role as Shipley’s defensive stopper, Rae guarded opposing teams’ top scoring threats all season and was essential to Shipley’s 2005-2006 playoff run. Blessed with extraordinarily swift hands, opposing ball handlers must protect the ball with all their energy to counter Goldstein’s defensive quickness. A one-man fast break, she is a compelling open-court player who attacks the rim with abandon. In 2005-2006, Rae shared the MVP honor with Alex King. A tri-captain for the 2006-2007 season, she has led the Gators to their best start in school history. The Gators (19-3, 8-0 FSL) are poised for a run at their first FSL title as they play host to the FSL semi-finals on Tuesday, February 13 at 4:00 pm vs. Friends’ Central. Rae recently finished her sixth year on the varsity girls’ soccer team at Shipley, leading the team with fellow senior co-captains Aly Mason and Brooke Stokes. Rae holds a career record for Shipley girls’ soccer with 76 goals and 19 assists. In her six years as a varsity starter, she was named first team All Inter-Ac in her freshman and sophomore years, as well as 1st team All-Main Line for three years. As a sophomore, she was honored with a spot on the All-Southeastern Pennsylvania 1st team. Halfway through the season in her junior year, Rae made the switch to goaltender, taking the Gators on an impressive 5-1-1 run, while giving up only 4 goals and leading the girls to the FSL Championship game. In her senior year, she led the Gators to their first FSL Championship Title with a 1-0 shutout against Westtown. Rae is a similarly dominant force with a lacrosse stick in her hands. As a member of the girls’ varsity lacrosse team at Shipley for the past four years, she has been a leader and guiding force. In the 2006 season, Rae led the Gators with 117 points, 88 goals, and 29 assists. She is Shipley’s all-time leading goal-scorer with 212 goals .The Shipley girls advanced to the FSL tiebreaker game in 2006, dropping in the end to Westtown. Rae was voted team MVP and selected to the 1st team All-FSL, All-Main Line and Main Line Life 1st teams in 2006. Rae will attend Division III Muhlenberg, where she plans on playing lacrosse, soccer, and possibly basketball.
