Girls' Basketball Wins 1st FSL Game and Earns 10th Victory of the Season
Wednesday 1/3/07

Shipley – 60
Abington Friends – 36

The Shipley Gators girls’ basketball team (10-2, 1-0 FSL) rebounded terrifically from their two losses during the holiday break to overpower Friends Schools League rival Abington Friends, 60-36.

Shipley placed four players in double figures, including senior Alex King (8-12, 15 points), freshman Brianna Ross (6-8 FT, 12 points, 10 rebounds for her first career double-double), sophomore Alex Lennon (5-10, 11 points, 13 rebounds, 3 blocks), and senior Rae Goldstein (5-9, 2 rebounds, 2 assists, 2 steals), who played tremendous defense on Abington’s NYU-bound Cindy Gould, limiting her to just 7 points, 9 below her average. Gould and sophomore Shakia Robinson, who combine to average 32 points, were held to just 15 by Shipley’s half court power defense. Shipley iced the game with a 20 point fourth quarter and allowed only 13 points in the second half.

The Gators take on Moorestown Friends at home on Friday January 5th, at 7:30 p.m.
