Shipley Wins in 2nd Round of the Independent Schools State Playoffs

Shipley beat Mercersburg Academy 72-49 on Wednesday, February 20, in the 2nd round of the State Playoffs. Junior Alex Lennon tallied 27 points and 24 rebounds, both career highs for the highly touted Gator. Lennon also chipped in with 5 blocks, 2 steals, and 2 assists. Her dominant performance put Shipley over the top in the 2nd half on way to their 17th victory of the season.

Junior Alisha Fairfax continued her consistent play with 19 points, 8 rebounds, 3 steals, and 2 assists. Fairfax also found her way to the foul line throughout the game and finished 7 for 10 from the line. Fairfax has been a long-range threat all season for the Gators and converted on four 3-point baskets Wednesday night. Junior Alex Davis added 8 points and 4 assists for the Gators.

Also tallying in the scoring column for Shipley were junior Mo Gentry 6, and sophomores Joanie Thompson 4, Brianna Ross 3, Loryn Hartshorne 2, and Natalie Burman 2.

Shipley (17-4) will take on Germantown Friends (19-5) on Friday, February 22 at 6:30 p.m. at Malvern Prep. The Gators have already beat the Tigers twice this season, with the final match-up earning Shipley the FSL championship title.
