Alisha Fairfax Named Main Line Times Athlete of the Week
GATOR AID: Alisha Fairfax’s 19 points and six rebounds led the way in Shipley’s 60-54 win over host Germantown Friends, raising the Gators’ record to 6-4 overall and 2-0 in the Friends School League. The junior went two-for-two from behind the arc and five-for-six from the free throw line to help seal the win.

This season, Fairfax is averaging 12.8 points per game. During the last five contests, Fairfax has averaged 16 points per game and has converted eight three-pointers.

“That was a big win [against Germantown Friends],” said Fairfax. “We knew they would be tough, and we wanted to play our game.”

Shipley girls’ basketball head coach Jennie Hall said, “Alisha has done an excellent job all season. She has developed into an all-around player that contributes in every aspect of the game.”

FIRST LOVE: When Fairfax was 8 years old, she developed a passion for the game that continues to grow every day. At age 10, Fairfax began playing AAU for the Comets, for whom she continued to play for the next four years.

“I have always enjoyed playing basketball,” said Fairfax. “It was the only sport I was interested in.”

Last fall, Fairfax was the goalie for Shipley’s junior varsity soccer team.

FUTURE TEACHER: Fairfax arrived at Shipley three years ago after spending the previous eight years at St. Laurence in Upper Darby.

“I liked the combination of academics and athletics Shipley had to offer,” said Fairfax. “I have had a great time at Shipley, and I am very happy that I have been able to contribute on such a talented team.”

If the right opportunity presents itself, Fairfax has hopes of playing collegiate basketball, while striving to become a teacher.
